David Kiatta

David Kiatta, Board Certified Criminal Defense Attorney

When you are accused of a serious crime, your future, reputation, and freedom are immediately at risk. The attorney you choose, and the depth of that attorney’s experience, will shape what happens next.

For more than 35 years, David Kiatta has practiced criminal law at the highest levels. He represents individuals facing serious felony charges in and around Houston, focusing on complex, high-stakes matters where the consequences are life-altering.

In serious criminal cases, experience is not theoretical- it is essential. It is knowing how cases unfold, how juries respond, how prosecutors assess risk, and how judges and juries evaluate credibility. It is recognizing weaknesses others overlook and anticipating prosecutorial strategy before it develops.

David began his career as a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, where he handled significant felony prosecutions and developed a thorough understanding of how the State builds and tries criminal cases. Over decades in the courtroom, he has refined a deliberate, disciplined approach to defense grounded in preparation, judgment, and trial readiness.

BOARD CERTIFIED

David is Board-Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization- a distinction earned by only a select percentage of Texas attorneys. Board certification reflects substantial trial experience, peer review, and demonstrated excellence in criminal defense.

He has represented clients throughout Fort Bend County, Harris County, Wharton County, and surrounding jurisdictions. His practice regularly involves defending individuals accused of violent offenses, sex-related allegations, robbery and theft crimes, and complex financial investigations.

With more than three decades devoted exclusively to criminal law, David brings seasoned judgment to every stage of a case- from early investigation through trial.

DELIBERATE AND STRATEGIC APPROACH

David prepares every serious case with the expectation that it may ultimately be presented to a jury. He conducts careful, methodical analysis of the evidence, challenges flawed investigative procedures, files strategic pretrial motions, and positions his clients for the strongest possible resolution- whether dismissal, reduction, or acquittal.

He understands that criminal charges mean more than legal exposure; they impact families, livelihoods, and reputations built over a lifetime.

A few years ago, his wife, Jennifer, joined the firm, bringing her background in education and librarianship to support research, writing, and case development. Her training in structured analysis and detailed review strengthens the firm’s ability to evaluate complex evidence with precision and depth. Together, they have cultivated a family-run practice defined by diligence, discretion, and thoughtful advocacy.

After raising nine children, David and Jennifer are now enjoying life as empty nesters and embracing their role as grandparents. They value the opportunity to work alongside one another while remaining actively involved in the lives of their growing family. That perspective – shaped by decades of parenting, responsibility, and long-term commitment- informs how David approaches his clients’ cases: with steadiness, perspective, and a clear understanding of what is truly at stake.

Outside the courtroom, David is an avid outdoorsman and hunter who values patience, preparation, and discipline- qualities that closely parallel his approach to criminal defense. He also enjoys collecting bourbon, appreciating the craftsmanship and nuance that come only with time and experience.

EXPERIENCE MATTERS

Serious criminal allegations demand more than routine representation. They require seasoned judgment developed over decades in the courtroom- the kind of experience that cannot be improvised.

If you or a loved one is under investigation or facing a serious charge in the Houston area, early and strategic intervention is critical. The right preparation at the outset often determines the trajectory of a case.
